Some persons may have significant anxiety about dental visits resulting in difficult in-office experiences or avoidance of important routine dental services altogether. Dental Desensitization can help and is a covered service by Partners Health Plan.

What is Dental Desensitization

  • Desensitization involves a series of short office visits, where
  • no treatment is providedintroducing new things at each visit, ending on a positive note.

  • Although this is a time consuming process, it allows the person to become more comfortable with the dental office environment,
become familiar with office staff, and better understand what they can expect on the day of their service.

  • There is no cost to our members when participating in desensitization visits.

For more information about desensitization, please contact your Care Manager.
